Welcome to
Alameda Montessori Children’s House
“Our care of the child should be governed, not by the desire to make him learn things, but by the endeavor always to keep burning within him that light which is called intelligence.”
Dr. Maria Montessori
Our Philosophy
The Montessori Philosophy is not a step-by-step curriculum, but rather through observation and experimentation, Dr. Montessori refined a style of presentation and designed a set of learning materials that best matched the way children learn.
The Montessori Method of teaching represents a profound respect for the child.
Children are encouraged to progress at their own pace in an stress-free environment. The goals are to have each child develop a good sense of order and concentration, to foster friendships with peers, and to create an atmosphere where grace and courtesy are always encouraged. The classrooms are set up to accommodate children in a Montessori mixed-age setting and we provide learning materials for all skill levels.
Alameda Montessori Children's House is affiliated with the American Montessori Society.
Our Mission
At Alameda Montessori Children’s House, we thrive to provide a safe, nurturing, and engaging environment where each child is the educator and where teachers are guides through the process of discovery. In such an environment, we hope that each child can achieve his or her fullest potential and grow academically, socially, and emotionally.
Our goal is to create an enriched atmosphere where learning is a fun and exciting experience.
Along side with practicing the traditional Montessori Philosophy, we also provide a bilingual (English and Mandarin) learning environment. Our enhanced yearly curriculum is aligned with our whole-child approach: physical, emotional, social, and cognitive. Subjects such as solar system, land animals, oceanography, fine arts, the human body, famous world landmarks, history, and world geography. Arts and crafts activities are always incorporated into the curriculum subjects. Cultural celebrations also play a big part of our school.
Our Teachers
Our teacher-student ratio is excellent at 1:4.
Our head teacher received her B.A., in Foreign Language at Dalin University. She continued to pursue her passion for working with young children, and later received her Montessori credential in Early Childhood Education from A.M.S. (American Montessori Society). She has over 10 years of experience working in Montessori Bilingual Schools, language schools, and different private settings.
She is also a certified Mindfulness Teacher who received her training from the Marin Mindfulness Institute. She strongly believes in bringing joy and love of learning is the best educational experience for children. Her passion and experience can be seen throughout her classrooms. Her kindness and nurturing nature can be felt by her students and students’ families.
Our group of teaching assistants share the same level of passion in education, standard of care and mission in building a supportive loving environment for our children.
The Montessori philosophy child centric, and it is around the idea through discovery, children learn about the world around them. Each activity in the learning environment is carefully designed to ensure that children use their experiences and discoveries to learn new concepts and ideas. From learning how to count, the alphabet, and learning how to serve a meal to others, this is applied to simple and complex tasks.
Because the philosophy recognizes that children don’t all learn the same way, lessons are tailored to each child’s needs based on their academic abilities and developmental stage. Montessori programs encourage freedom and curiosity to explore and learn.
Multi-age classrooms also play an important role that offers greater opportunities for growth and learning. Young children benefit from the wisdom and guidance of older children. When older children can teach younger ones, they better retain the information that they are teaching.
